Who Qualifies for Medicaid-Covered Lactation Consultations?
Colorado Medicaid covers lactation consultations for parents who:
✅ Are enrolled in Colorado Medicaid
✅ Obtain a doctor’s referral for lactation services
✅ Schedule an in-office or virtual visit (home visits are not available through our practice yet)
How the Process Works
Using your Medicaid benefits for lactation support is simple. First, click here to request a consult, and then do the following:
1️⃣ Get a Doctor’s Referral – Colorado Medicaid requires a referral from your healthcare provider to cover lactation services. You can ask your OB-GYN, Midwife, pediatrician, or primary care provider for a referral to our practice.
2️⃣ Schedule Your Appointment – Once you have a referral, reach out to us to book your consultation. We offer both in-office visits and virtual consultations, so you can choose what works best for you.
3️⃣ Receive Expert Lactation Support – During your visit, we will provide personalized guidance to address any breastfeeding concerns, such as latching difficulties, milk supply issues, pumping support, and more.
4️⃣ Billing is Handled Directly – We will submit the claim to Medicaid on your behalf, so you don’t have to worry about payment or reimbursement.
