We Now Accept Colorado Medicaid for Lactation Consults!

Navigating the breastfeeding journey can be challenging, and we believe every parent deserves access to high-quality lactation support—regardless of financial circumstances. That’s why we are thrilled to announce that we are now accepting Colorado Medicaid for in-office and virtual lactation consultations! In home visits will be available within a month or so.

If you are a Colorado Medicaid recipient, this means you can now receive expert breastfeeding support at no out-of-pocket cost to you (as long as you meet the requirements for coverage). Here’s everything you need to know about how to use your Medicaid benefits for lactation consulting services.

Who Qualifies for Medicaid-Covered Lactation Consultations?

Colorado Medicaid covers lactation consultations for parents who:

✅ Are enrolled in Colorado Medicaid
✅ Obtain a doctor’s referral for lactation services
✅ Schedule an in-office or virtual visit (home visits are not available through our practice yet)

How the Process Works

Using your Medicaid benefits for lactation support is simple. First, click here to request a consult, and then do the following:

1️⃣ Get a Doctor’s Referral – Colorado Medicaid requires a referral from your healthcare provider to cover lactation services. You can ask your OB-GYN, Midwife, pediatrician, or primary care provider for a referral to our practice.
2️⃣ Schedule Your Appointment – Once you have a referral, reach out to us to book your consultation. We offer both in-office visits and virtual consultations, so you can choose what works best for you.
3️⃣ Receive Expert Lactation Support – During your visit, we will provide personalized guidance to address any breastfeeding concerns, such as latching difficulties, milk supply issues, pumping support, and more.
4️⃣ Billing is Handled Directly – We will submit the claim to Medicaid on your behalf, so you don’t have to worry about payment or reimbursement.

Why Choose a Lactation Consultant?

Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn’t mean it always comes easily. Whether you’re a first-time parent or navigating new challenges with your baby, working with an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) can make a world of difference. We provide compassionate, evidence-based support to help you reach your feeding goals.

With Medicaid coverage, there’s no reason to struggle alone—get the expert help you deserve today!
